Lake Lure

Finally!!! I have a minute to update the blog. We had a great time in North Carolina, but it is so great to be home. The boys were even glad to be in their own bed. They came home & went immediately & got in their bed. We left last Friday & drove straight to Lake Lure, NC (7 hours). The trip there was much better than it was coming back. When you have 15 people (4 being 2 years old) you have to stop a million times.

We hung around the condo that was on the lake most of the week. We did venture out in the town of Lake Lure & Asheville (Home of the Biltmore). Marc's brother, Russ, brought his boat, so much of the time was spent on the lake. Of course, the men had to get their 2 rounds of golf in. That is a MUST anytime we go on vacation. The women & children went to the public beach while they were golfing. The boys loved playing in the NASTY water. It brought out the boy in them. The water was only up to there waist in the deepest part.

Here is a recap of our week:
Saturday ~ We hung out around the condo. We all even slept in!!!

Sunday ~ The men played golf & the women & kids went to the public beach (2 minutes away).

Monday ~ We went to Brevard to the Sliding Rock. It is a rock that is about 60 ft down into water. It is very slippery & kinda like a water slide. The water was ONLY 55 degrees. The boys went twice down the rock, but the cold water they went into they didn't like. To be honest, I didn't either. It was the COLDEST water I have ever been in. It is the end of July & it is still only 55 degrees!!! After lunch, we went to see a few sights in the Pisgah Forest we missed. We hiked 0.7 miles up hill with 2 babies to see a tiny waterfall that was down due to drought. After that, we drove to see Looking Glass Falls. Here is where they day got interesting. Marc locked the keys in the car as we are getting out to see the water fall...2 1/2 hours later we get the car unlocked!!! Onstar couldn't get a signal to the car to unlock it, so they sent a locksmith. I am going to leave it at that. After that ordeal, we were ALL starving so everyone decided on Pizza Hut. I didn't care about the South Beach Diet that night & enjoyed my 3 slices of pizza. I could have used a stiff drink, but I opted out of that too.

Mason standing in FREEZING water! Robin, Clayton, Hudson, Maw-Maw, Mason, Caleb, & Laiken waiting while the car is trying to get unlocked!
Tuesday ~ Golf again for the men & beach for the rest of us. After a nap (ya'll all know I am strict about those), the boys took their first boat ride. Both were very unsure at first. Mason hated it the whole time & Caleb was loving it by the end. They both went into orbit when Marc jumped in the water, & continued to cry & scream until he got back in.
First boatride!!!
Wednesday ~ We went to Asheville to the Biltmore. We have already been, so we just opted for the gift shop at the entrance gate instead of paying to get in. We shopped around Asheville & ate lunch at a McDonald's with a Baby Gran Piano. TOO COOL!!! It was by far the nicest one I have ever been in.
Thursday ~ We shopped in the town of Lake Lure & Chimney Rock. Cute town!!! Chimney Rock was closed due to a Forest Fire that started Tuesday night due to lightening. We got to see helicopter dip water out of the lake to drop on the fire. It was pretty neat & the boys LOVED the helicopters.

Friday~ HOME SWEET HOME!!!!!
